CABLE LUGS & CONNECTORS

Connecting, Jointing & Terminating LV MV HV Cables

The complete range of electrical connectors for jointing and terminating cables and connecting conductors into low, medium and high voltage switchgear, control panels and transformers using compression (crimping) or mechanical shearbolt (“snap-off”) type connectors.

Connectors are available to lug, crimp and splice cables for LV, MV and HV applications with copper or aluminium conductors ranging from 1.5sqmm up to 1200sqmm.

Compatible with 11kV and 33kV cold shrink, heat shrink, push-on and slip-on type cable joints and cable terminations – crimp, shearbolt and brass tunnel type connectors suit for resin cable joints.

Low Voltage 600/1000 Volts (3.3kV)
Medium Voltage 6.6kV 11kV 33kV
High Voltage 66kV 72kV

The different material types and applications of Cable Connector

● Copper Lugs
Perfect for large gauge applications, copper lugs offer excellent conductivity and are ideal for outdoor and marine environments. Commonly used for interconnecting heavy gauge power cables to bus bars, relays, batteries, solar power inverters, and earthing devices.

● Aluminium Lugs
Made from high-conductivity, pure aluminium, these lugs are suitable for outdoor use and provide a cost-effective alternative to copper lugs. Their barrel entry is chamfered for easy cable insertion, and they feature an AntiOxide compound to reduce oxide formation and improve connection after crimping.

● Bimetallic Lugs
These lugs are manufactured using friction welding, combining a copper palm with an aluminium barrel. Ideal for terminating aluminium conductors onto copper bus bars, they are often used in control panels, switchgear, and combiner boxes in solar plants.

● Insulated Lugs
Featuring a layer of insulation around the connection point, insulated lugs offer protection against electrical shock, short circuits, and other potential hazards.

● Split Bolt Connectors
These connectors join the grounding wires and other components together, creating a complete circuit that provides a path for electricity to flow to the ground. The use of split bolt connectors in grounding applications allows for a secure, reliable connection that can withstand the high currents and voltages associated with electrical grounding and lightning protection.

Quality Inspection Standards Of Cable Lugs And Connectors

1.Material inspection:
● Material composition detection: Use equipment such as spectrometers to detect the purity and composition of materials such as copper and aluminum to ensure that they meet the specified material standards.
● Plating thickness detection: The tin plating thickness is required to be 4-5 microns. This layer of tin can prevent copper oxidation, enhance electrical performance, and provide certain mechanical protection.

2.Appearance inspection
● Chamfering: Chamfering refers to the process of forming a bevel or chamfer on a corner or edge. This helps reduce sharp edges, prevent damage to cables or potential injuries during installation, and also improves the assembly process of connectors.
● Surface finish: The surface of the product should be smooth and free of burrs. Burrs are small metal fragments or irregular protrusions formed during the manufacturing process, which can affect the assembly and quality of electrical connections.

3.Dimension measurement
● Aperture inspection: Check the diameter and flatness of wiring holes and inspection holes to ensure tightness and stability after assembly.
